Happy Halloween!

I want to show you what I made with one of the free gifts we can ALL get from Stampin' Up! this week during the  Digital Scrapbooking promotion until November 5th. There are three completely FREE downloads you can get to use with My Digital Studio or any other digital crafting program. As well, the Digital Kits are 50% off.

So this is what the download began as:
A Split Second Designer Template Pages -- Digital DownloadThis is the A Split Second download (FREE, free Free...did I say that?). Now obviously it would be cute if you poked three adorable little photos on each page and slapped in a date and said 'that's it, I'm done. Aren't I awesome?'. Because you know, it's OK if you say that. We should all say that more often. I'm awesome, you're awesome, we're all awesome.  OK, on with it...

Here's what I made:

So, I just used the first page in the template. The first thing I did was delete the 'SMILE'. Just select it with your mouse and hit delete. Then I chose the photos I wanted to use, and clicked them into the already there photo boxes. Then I filled the third photo box with Designer Series Pape (Pumpkin Pie Large Polka Dot). I added five stamp images from the Spooky Bingo Bits digital set and resized them as needed and changed the opacity. To resize them all you have to do is select the image, then drag the arrows. Then I selected the frame thing around the middle rectangle and changed the colour to Pumpkin Pie. Then I did the same thing for those little zig zaggy lines along the left hand side (that stuff was all pink before). The 'eek!' was a stamp image from the Spooky Bingo Bits set, so I changed the colour of that to Pumpkin Pie as well.  I typed some text, added a date, and that's it. I love the designer templates and digital kits. Most of the work is done for me. I can either leave the page as it was, or change a colour or two and make it something completely different, like this one.  This page took me 5 minutes to make. This blog post took me 20 minutes. Now do you see why my blog isn't the fanciest blog on the block? I'd much rather be crafting!!!

You can still download a FREE TRIAL of My Digital Studio. It's easy and completely free to try for 30 days. It's not like Netflix or other places that make you enter a credit card and then they just start charging you. If you want to  buy it at the end of 30 days, you do. If you don't, then you don't. Easy. Now's a good time to do it though, I'm just sayin'. What if you like it, and then are kicking yourself next week that you didn't stock up on 50% off Digital Downloads??!!

To get your free stuff, visit my website , click on Shop Now, and along the left hand side there will be a spot that says FREE DIGITAL DOWNLOADS. To get the free trial of MDS, just go down to the MY DIGITAL STUDIO link along that same side.

Happy Halloween!

A pretty page

I love this scrapbook page. It could be made traditionally or digitally. I love the nine squares.I love the little labels peaking out the sides and the banner across the corner. I love the color scheme. I hate that my iPad always autocorrects my colour to color.

I'm going to save this one in my 'inspiration for the retreat' folder.

I've still got room in the retreat. I would love it if you could join us! Nov 16-18th. Email me for more information!

What was I thinking?

Look at this mess. Just look at it. What was I thinking?

Ha, actually that doesn't look so bad. That's AFTER we stamped and big shotted all 400 pieces. 400.

Did you catch the 'we' in that sentence? I stamped. The Hub actually did most of the big shotting.

That's right, I said big shotting. What else should I call it?

I'm VERY grateful for the big shotting help. I'd still be there doing it, and instead I got to do this...

And then that turned into this...

Just look! Aren't they beautiful? I'm so happy with how they turned out. They are just so golly gee pretty!

If you come see me at the Minto Nursery School trade show on Saturday October 27th (10-4, Minto Town & Country Center) I might even sell you one!

If you'd like to make your own, here is what I used:

Ornament Keepsakes Bundle 129950
Cherry Cobbler Yulle 127841
Festival of Prints DSP Stack 126904

Trade show excitement???

Oh man. What have I got myself into?
I said yes to a trade show.
I haven't done that for years.
It's just so much work. (insert whine reminiscent of an 11 yr old boy who's been asked to clean his room....and if you don't know what that sounds like, come over after school today)
Why did I do it?
Fine. It's because it's fun to meet new people and share Stampin' Up! And it's for a good cause (the Minto Nursery School).

Come and see me, I've got some neat things to show you. October 27th, 10:00-4:00 Minto Town & Country Center. And if you're not interested in anything I've got to show you just come and see all the awesomeness that the other tradespeople have to show you! Just don't be asking me for no free candies or nothing.

The girls in my Stampers Clubs are the backbone of my business. In months when I don't have much other stampin' stuff going on...I've always got a Stampers Club. Typically, they meet once a month, make some cute projects, do a lot of giggling, some snacking and just generally enjoy themselves. This month I thanked my clubs with these beautiful bags I bought from Stampin' Up!

So if you see one of these bags around, give that person a happy smile for me, would ya? :-)
Here's some of the things we made in October...not all of these ideas are my original ideas, so I'd like to thank the creative peeps for sharing!

Do you think this poor owl is creepy? Me either.Sorry, can't figure out how to rotate this image on my iPad. Geez, always learning...

Love the pretty fall colors, they never get old.

Would you believe they still complained even though I did the scoring for them!?!? (love you girls)

Tea for you and me

Looking for a neat gift idea?

Gifts shouldn't be hard to find.

Gifts don't have to be expensive (unless you really want to spend lots of money...then we'll talk, I've got a long list).

A gift should bring a smile to someone's face.

Isn't this a cute idea? I love the thought of a handmade, from the heart gift if for no other reason than to brighten someones day.

This project has lots of supplies. Frankly, it's my job to try and sell you a bunch of NEW things to make this project. But you and I both know that you can use some of the stuff you've got at home and come up with a really nice stack of recipe cards.

Scrapbook Retreat

Did you find time to scrapbook this week?  This month? This year? This decade?

Me neither.

That's why I put together a Scrapbook Retreat. A whole weekend set aside to get caught up. Or at least closer to being caught up.

I'm so looking forward to this weekend away from home, laundry, cooking, cleaning, hockey, cat poop, XBoxes, homework, the real job (that is draining me lately), Johnny Test, "Mom, whats there to eat?", "Mom, where's my black sweater?", whiskers in the sink, dirty socks laying beside the couch.........................................................................................................fine. I'll stop for now. But you know I could go on and on and on.

The point is, I'm giving myself this weekend to scrapbook. If I choose to scrapbook, then good for me. If I choose to sit around and read a good book, go for a beautiful walk, paint my toenails, watch a sappy movie, have a long nap...then at least that's my choice. I gave myself the chance to get caught up.

There's a few spots left. Would you like to join us? Its $125 for the whole weekend, meals and lodging included. Email me for more details. You don't want to miss out!

Before I leave you for the day, I`d like you to know that even though it would be prefectly plausible that these are indeed pictures of my crap laying around. They are not. I googled `scrapbook mess'  tee hee. Thank you to the good sports who uploaded their messes for the rest of us to see!

Maybe these gals should come to my scrapbook retreat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A pretty one for fall

It barely feels like fall around here. Today, it felt like straight out WINTER! But, I still want to show you this card. We made it at one of my Stampers clubs in September. I love how it turned out!

We used: FrenchFoliage SS ( 120845 w or 121166c). The colors are Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Basic Black. Accessories are Vintage Brads and Basic Black taffeta ribbon.
For the leaves, you'll want to ink the stamp with Cajun Craze, then tap the edges of the stamp with Soft Suede ink to create a multi-colored fall leaf. We made the rectangular background by simply tapping the ink pad itself onto the card stock. To ruffle the ribbon, I put down some Sticky Strip, then laid the ribbon over it and started gathering and sticking as I went along. Trim the end and stick a brad through it!
Don't forget, that word stamp we used (from Word Play) can be purchased separately for a limited time! Isn't it a beautiful phrase? I love the words AND the layout/fonts! (132298 $8.95)
We have the best views at our house, in the morning we've got a big beautiful east/sunrise view, and a gorgeous treelined view of the sunset to the west. Our fall trees have been providing an especially spectacular view. I doubt this picture will do our magnificent view any justice. You'll just have to take my word for it!

Single stamps!

Here's something new that Stampin' Up! is trying out! Selling stamps (out of sets) individually!!! It's kinda neat really. How many times have you looked at a set, especially a 'word' set and decided you would only use one or two of the stamps in the set? A few times I bet! I know I have. For a limited time, we are going to try it out and see how much interest there is.
For the trial, there are 3 different stamp sets that we're splitting:

  • This offer is available for clear-mount stamps only.
  • The stamps won't come with a Clear-Mount Block, and you'll need to buy a block separately if you don't already have one. The recommended block sizes can be found on the flyers.
  • There's no limit on how many pieces you can buy.
  • These stamps will only be available separately until Jan 2, when the trial program ends.

    Keepin' Calm

Here's a fun card I made recently. I guess I just like the Carry On stamp set (Hostess 126647C or 126645W. I like that it has a cupcake. I really don't think I need anymore reasons that that.

This was a new to me colour scheme as well. Marigold Morning and Basic Grey. I liked how it turned out.                                                   But then I decided to go all Stampin' Up! on my card and trick it out   'Step it Up' a bit.

SS: Carry On  INK: Basic Grey Classic, Marigold Morning Stampin’ Write  CS: Marigold Morning, Basic Grey, Whisper White  ACC: Houndstooth and Perfect Polka Dot TIEF, Apothecary Accents Framelits, ½” circle and 3/16” Corner Rounder Punch, Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Basic Rhinestones, 1/8” Mini Brads, Basic Grey ¼” Stitched Grosgrain, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Now it's even better, right? I mean, you add some bling like Rhinestones and brads and paper piercing and things can only get better.

But I'm not done yet. The set comes with all of these imagesCarry On Wood-Mount Stamp Set                                                                                                but I was missing just one teeny tiny stamp in this set. So I made it myself and this is what it looks like.
