Here I am!

Did you miss me? I missed you, kind of. You see, I was still checking the list of blogs that I regularly read over the holidays. Few of them were being updated though, and I'd get frustrated and frankly a little annoyed that they wouldn't leave their families for just one hour and blog for me. Then I'd remember that I wasn't blogging either. So, in a kind of roundabout way, I missed you.

The end of our current Holday mini catalog is drawing near. You must have one last lookylu at that wonderful bookywook and make sure you've got everything you need out of it.

Then, on January 2 something bad happens.

the. new. mini. catalog. goes. live.

That's some scary shit.
Oh my goodness, excuse the potty mouth.
But have you looked through it yet?
If you have, you probably understand where I'm coming from.
If not, go look through it and then we will talk.
(and if you don't have one yet, email me and tell me so and I will get you one)

Those generous souls at Stampin' Up! Have been adding more stuff to the Clearance rack as well. Check it out.

See you in 2013!!!!!

Holiday gifts

HOLIDAY GIFTS
Hello stamping friends. Amy here and I’m so thrilled to share with you a few ideas to take your holiday gift-giving to the next level. I love our traditional products such as stamps, paper, and ink and the opportunity they provide to personalize my Christmas.

Below I have a cute paint can found at my local craft store that I have embellished using our traditional products.

But did you know that by adding our digital elements you will open up a whole new world of creativity. Below I have used a digital cutting machine to cut Stampin’ Up! images. Oh yes, you heard me right! “How?” you ask. Follow your digital cutting machine tutorial online for quick results using our digital files.

The large white circle tag below was created using the Perfect Pennants Shape Digital Punch and Homestyle Goodies Designer Template. I added some Stampin’ Dimensionals and layered our Silver Glimmer Paper.

I have also printed my own Designer Series Paper. Can’t get enough? Our digital files offer a whole spectrum of prints. I personally loved this candy cane stripe. No need to run to the store. Quickly print and fold your 12" x 12" paper for a personalized gift bag anyone would love to receive.

But don’t stop there. Fill those projects with a little goodness right from your kitchen. Give this recipe a try for the easiest and tastiest little Christmas treat. Yum!

White Chocolate Popcorn
Air popped popcorn (2 batches; 1 large bowl)
10 oz. white chocolate

- Melt chocolate on a double boiler.
- Place popcorn and melted chocolate in a paper bag. Shake to coat. Add any little candy your heart desires. (I added some crushed candy canes for a little white chocolate and peppermint.)
- Allow to cool; then prepare yourself to make another batch because you can’t stop eating the first one. :)

Happy Christmas Crafting! XOXO

Try this

Look at this beeuutie

Does it look complicated?

It's not. Grab your repositionable adhesive (Dotto in the good 'ol days) and let's get at 'er.

You just want to cut varying sizes of cardstock (looks nicest if they're the same color....I used Very Vanilla). It doesn't matter if they're the same shape even, the technique is still the same.

Put a bit of the Dotto on the back of each and stick together. Then stamp as desired, make sure to go over the edges. That's where the fun is.

Don't worry if it doesn't stamp clearly around the layer edges, like mine didn't. That crap gets covered anyways.

Ideally, you cut layers of coordinating cardstock to mat each piece already.

Then you peel apart the base (vanilla) pieces and stick them to the coordinating colored piece.

Glue those babies together and make yerself a card, would ya?

I used:

Very Vanilla (101650) and Midnight Muse (126843) cardstock.
Midnight Muse (126860) and River Rock (126977) Classic ink.
Midnight Muse stitched ribbon (126847)
Everything Eleanor stamp set (124164c 124162w) and Upsy Daisy stamp set (oops, I thought it was still current, sorry....it's not)

Some thoughts: just because I used all one color, and the same kind of shape doesn't mean you have to. Imagine one done with leaves and fall colors,or one in bright colors with circles of different sizes in different spots on the card.....ooh the possibilities!

Fancy Foldy (yes, I said Foldy) Fun

And here's the card all unfolded-like.

Fun, huh?

Just a few simple scores and a bit of Designer Series Paper and you're off and running.

For my card I used a piece of 5 1/2 x 12" card stock. Score it at 2,4,7 and 9".

The belly band is 1 1/4 x 8 1/2", scored at 2 1/4 and 6 3/8".

You'll need 2 pieces of DSP 2 3/4 x 5 1/4" and 1 that is 1 3/4 x 5 1/4". The piece of DSP on the belly band is 1 x 3 7/8". I think I just like saying belly band. Who doesn't?!

I used Very Vanilla (101650) cardstock and Designer Series Paper Stacks in Neutrals (117157).
That is Soft Suede ink (126978) and just stamped off to get different shades.
The label is from the Labels framelits collection (125598).
The stamps are Elements of Style (120045c or 118611w) and I used Sassy Salutations (126707c 126705w) to make lots of different greetings. This has become my new GO TO greetings set. Love it.

I hope you have fun making one of these neat cards. They're a nice big wow when they get unfolded! The best part is that you don't need a ridiculous pile of fancy accessories and tools to make them!

Yay Ornament kits!

The ornament on the cover of our holiday catalogue is such a hit that we are making it available to you just in time to deck the halls with terrific trimmings you've made yourself! We've simplified this fun project so that you can quickly and easily achieve the same results.

In addition to the kit, all you need is a glue gun, scissors, and adhesive. (Our Anywhere Glue Sticks [104045] are perfect for assembly.) Want greeting or place cards to go with those ornaments? The Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set (W 128048 C 128051) gives you perfect coordination. Fancy a little sparkle and shine? Sprinkle on our Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter (102023)!

I also HIGHLY recommend the Silicone sheet (127853) out of the mini catalog to use as your work surface. This thing ROCKS! The glue doesn't stick to it...so it makes a perfect work surface! LOVE THIS!

With this kit you'll be able to create 10 heirloom ornaments--or stunning tags to attach to a special neighbour gift.

The Ornamental Elegance Kit (132832) is $17.95 and includes:

Die-Cut Cardstock Elements
Cherry Cobbler 3-1/2" Scalloped Tulle Ribbon
Natural Linen Thread
Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons
Large Pearl Basic Jewels

Order these now so you will have plenty of time to make them for Christmas gifting--or for your family tree! I wouldn't dawdle too long this week, leave yourself enough time. Head to my online store to order up your kit today!

Available while supplies last.

Relaxing Ridiculous Relucent

The 3Rs of our scrapbook retreat!

It was:

SO

MUCH

FUN!

I can hardly believe some of you chose not to be there. You missed out on a really incredible time.

There was lots of space to spread out

Good grief. Who's mess is that? tsk tsk

There were big windows all with an incredible view...you just can't beat it. There's no better way to scrapbook!

The food was wonderful, the company was great! We all had a blast together!

One of the things we did was a challenge page. I gave everyone a package that had the same materials in it (Basic Black and Very Vanilla card stock, First Edition Specialty DSP,black dotted scallop ribbon and an antique brad).

They were to use at least some of everything in the package to make a page, complete with photos and journalling, in their choice of size and style. It was so neat to see all of the different pages people came up with!

Here's the one that I did:

I love how it turned out. You can't see them in the picture, but there are black snowflakes on the bottom half of the page as well. Makes for some beautiful texture.

We are going to do it again next year, you should join us!

New To Me Colour Combo and a Lovely Paper Bow

Here's a card I made last week with a 'new to me' color scheme. I took the inspiration from the Designer Series Paper I used (international Bazaar 126920), so the colors are Pool Party and Tangerine Tango.

Now, how 'bout that paper bow? Doesn't that deserve some discussion? Maybe even a round of applause! As usual, the photo does not do it any justice. It really is lovely, and not too fiddly to make.

You need an oval punch, some glue dots(preferably) and paper of course. The nice thickness of our DSP works great.

Cut yourself a strip of paper a few inches long, about the same width of the oval you're going to punch.

Stick one end of the paper into the punch from behind. You just want to punch one end to create a rounded ovally kind of end.

Then, stick the other end in and do the same thing. Now you've got a really long ugly oval, right? Cut it in half-ish. Punch yourself a couple of real ovals out of the same paper and a small strip about 1.5" long and 1/2" wide. You should have pieces that resemble this:

So now you want to put a glue dot on the backside of one rounded end and stick it to the small strip of paper. Then you'll do the same thing with the other rounded piece, nudging the rounded ends up to one another. The tiny strip of paper is just holding them together in place. It should look like this:

Ok. If you're still with me and haven't become bored and decided that even throwing in a load of laundry would be more interesting than this, now you're going to use the oval punchouts. One the backside, put a glue dot on one rounded end. Then fold it gently in half to stick together. Don't crease it, you want it to be round. Then, stick it to the other piece (with another glue dot) so it looks like this:

Do the same thing with the other oval punchout please and thank you.

You can finish these bows off however you like. Some of my suggestions might be:
-throw it in the garbage and do some laundry.
-don't do that.
-cut another small strip of paper about the same size as the small one before, wrap it around the center of the bow and adhere with a glue dot
-fasten a button, large pearl, brad etc. over the center with a glue dot
-finish the ends of your bow by cutting the paper into a v-point if so desired

Here's the ingredients I used for my card:

Stamps: Make a Cake (126742c 126740w), Itty Bitty Banners (126257c 126255w)
Card stock: Pool Party (122924), Naturals White (102316), Tangerine Tango (111349)
Ink: Tangerine Tango Marker (119702) Pool Party Marker (123002)
Accessories: International Bazaar DSP (126920), Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (127555), Basic Rhinestones (119246), Paper Doily Sizzlets (125592), Bitty Banners Framelits (129267), Large Oval Punch (119855)

Now, you might have noticed, laundry is on my mind today. Like it or not, it must get done. I've already put it off long enough. Enjoy your day!

Happy Halloween!

I want to show you what I made with one of the free gifts we can ALL get from Stampin' Up! this week during the  Digital Scrapbooking promotion until November 5th. There are three completely FREE downloads you can get to use with My Digital Studio or any other digital crafting program. As well, the Digital Kits are 50% off.

So this is what the download began as:
A Split Second Designer Template Pages -- Digital DownloadThis is the A Split Second download (FREE, free Free...did I say that?). Now obviously it would be cute if you poked three adorable little photos on each page and slapped in a date and said 'that's it, I'm done. Aren't I awesome?'. Because you know, it's OK if you say that. We should all say that more often. I'm awesome, you're awesome, we're all awesome.  OK, on with it...

Here's what I made:

So, I just used the first page in the template. The first thing I did was delete the 'SMILE'. Just select it with your mouse and hit delete. Then I chose the photos I wanted to use, and clicked them into the already there photo boxes. Then I filled the third photo box with Designer Series Pape (Pumpkin Pie Large Polka Dot). I added five stamp images from the Spooky Bingo Bits digital set and resized them as needed and changed the opacity. To resize them all you have to do is select the image, then drag the arrows. Then I selected the frame thing around the middle rectangle and changed the colour to Pumpkin Pie. Then I did the same thing for those little zig zaggy lines along the left hand side (that stuff was all pink before). The 'eek!' was a stamp image from the Spooky Bingo Bits set, so I changed the colour of that to Pumpkin Pie as well.  I typed some text, added a date, and that's it. I love the designer templates and digital kits. Most of the work is done for me. I can either leave the page as it was, or change a colour or two and make it something completely different, like this one.  This page took me 5 minutes to make. This blog post took me 20 minutes. Now do you see why my blog isn't the fanciest blog on the block? I'd much rather be crafting!!!

You can still download a FREE TRIAL of My Digital Studio. It's easy and completely free to try for 30 days. It's not like Netflix or other places that make you enter a credit card and then they just start charging you. If you want to  buy it at the end of 30 days, you do. If you don't, then you don't. Easy. Now's a good time to do it though, I'm just sayin'. What if you like it, and then are kicking yourself next week that you didn't stock up on 50% off Digital Downloads??!!

To get your free stuff, visit my website , click on Shop Now, and along the left hand side there will be a spot that says FREE DIGITAL DOWNLOADS. To get the free trial of MDS, just go down to the MY DIGITAL STUDIO link along that same side.

Happy Halloween!

A pretty page

I love this scrapbook page. It could be made traditionally or digitally. I love the nine squares.I love the little labels peaking out the sides and the banner across the corner. I love the color scheme. I hate that my iPad always autocorrects my colour to color.

I'm going to save this one in my 'inspiration for the retreat' folder.

I've still got room in the retreat. I would love it if you could join us! Nov 16-18th. Email me for more information!

Making absolutely gorgeous scrapbook pages is easy when you use our color-coordinated papers and inks!
